Guinness declares Al Qudra Cycling Track the ‘Longest Continuous Cycling Path’
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has achieved a new Guinness world record that adds to its impressive tally of world records in having Al Qudra Cycling Track spanning 80.6 km declared as the longest continuous cycling path surpassing the previous world record registered in 2020 for a 33 km cycling track.

304.6m riders used public transport means, shared mobility and taxis in the first half of 2022
RTA announced that the number of riders using public transport means and shared mobility in Dubai that include Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, public buses, marine transport means (abras, ferry, water taxi, water bus), e-hail rides, smart car rental, Bus-On-Demand, and taxis (Dubai Taxi and franchise company taxies) clocked nearly 304.6 million during the first half of 2022

RTA issues 38 thousands permits for e-scooter riders in 3 months
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued 38,102 permits for riding e-scooters during the first three months from the launch of the free online registration platform on RTA’s website on April 28th, 2022. The daily average number of permits issued clocked 423 permits.

Constructing dedicated bus and taxi lanes stretching 37 km over 5 years
These lanes cover 8 main streets mainly Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street, 2nd December Street, Amman Street, Al Satwa Road, Al Nahda Street, Omar bin Al-Khattab Street and Naif Street bringing the total length of dedicated bus and taxi lanes to 48.6 km.

RTA achieves 100% automation of public parking machines
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the automation and renovation of public parking machines in the emirate. It has fitted them with touch screens enabling the entry of the vehicle details, and the issuance of an e-ticket likewise the text messages sent to mobile phones using the mParking system.

RTA achieves 18% energy efficiency consumption rate, 13% cut in emissions
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that RTA had achieved the targeted energy efficiency performance indicators 2021 and reduced total energy consumption in all operations and projects by 18%, when compared with the average consumption from 2016 to 2019

Adding 2219 new vehicles to Dubai Taxi fleet including 1775 hybrid vehicles
RTA has signed a contract for the procurement of 2,219 new vehicles to enhance the fleet of the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC). The new batch includes 1,775 hybrid vehicles powered by fuel and electricity.

Launching trial operation of electric buses fitted with Opportunity Charging technology
RTA has launched a trial run of two electric buses, branded Volvo 7900. The two buses will shuttle on a specific path in both directions between La Mer South, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Street and Al Sufouh Tram Station.

LEED Gold Certification for Route 2020 Metro Stations from USGBC
RTA has achieved LEED Gold Certification awarded to the seven stations of Route 2020, under the rating system LEED V4 BD+C following the US Green Buildings Council (USGBC), which is the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.

His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA revealed the total number of hybrid/electric taxis and limousines in Dubai amounted to 4683 vehicles in 2020

Endorsing pioneering plan for emission-free public transport by 2050
RTA has endorsed a long-term plan to have zero emissions of public transport in Dubai by 2050. As such, it becomes the first government body in the MENA region to chart out such a comprehensive plan for public transport and related infrastructure.
