Dubai is one of the fastest growing cities in today's world, making the provision of high-quality infrastructure facilities imperative. The government of Dubai recognizes the importance of providing an advanced transport network for the people and prioritizes the initiatives to enhance the public transport facilities and improve roads across the emirate to make travel safer and smoother. To achieve this vision, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) was formed by decree number 17 for the year 2005. RTA is responsible for planning and providing the requirements of transport, roads & traffic in the Emirate of Dubai, and between Dubai and other Emirates of the UAE and neighboring countries in order to provide an effective & an integrated transport system capable of serving the vital interests of the Emirate.
Traffic Safety
All modes of transport are equipped with high-quality specifications to ensure the safety of road users and the steady flow of traffic anywhere in the Emirate.
Taxis
Our Taxi Corporation’s Fleet comprises of approximately 3,854 vehicles which operate around the clock throughout the week and year, including public and religious holidays.
Public buses
The Public Transport Agency provides its services through its massive fleet of 1518 buses, covering the transportation network which includes 119 internal routes.
Roads engineering
We take care of all the road engineering works that are done in the different areas of the Emirate.
Registration and licensing
All of RTA’s services related to driving licences, permits and e-traffic transactions.
Marine transport
As part of RTA’s efforts to serve Dubai’s residents, various models and diverse options of marine transport have been provided to educate and encourage the public to use these means which include Abra, the water taxi and Dubai Ferry.
Commercial ads on the right of way
We authorise and approve all Commercial ads on the right of way.
Inter-city transport
We are committed to provide a vast public transportation system of Inter-City Travel to serve Dubai’s residents, visitors and tourists to travel across the different Emirates.

It is one of our core responsibilities to ensure the beautification of all streets and roads of all areas of the Emirate of Dubai.
